Parramatta City Swim Club has run free Learn to Swim classes at Granville Pool using volunteer instructors for more than 60 years.
The club has over 10 qualified instructors who, at a minimum, are AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualified, the nationally recognised qualification for learn to swim teachers. Many of our instructors also hold additional AUSTSWIM qualifications including teaching adults, competitive strokes and people with disabilities. Combined, our instructors have more than 200 years experience teaching swimming.
The club is always looking for new volunteers, especially people form Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds to become swimming instructors. After a probation period as a trainee, the club will cover the full cost of becoming an accredited AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.
Being able to swim is not required to start volunteering as a trainee, but it is necessary for a candidate to be able to swim 100m to become an instructor. During the probation period there will be opportunities for trainees to improve their swimming ability and fitness and their understanding of water safety and swimming.
If you are interested volunteering as an instructor or trainee please send an email to email@example.com.
